Wildcat Construction was chosen by the City of Wichita to remove and replace four (4) 54'' butterfly valves on the raw water lines from the well fields into the city's water treatment plant. The work consisted of removal and replacement of the valves with minimal downtime for the water supply to the water treatment plant. This required making several alternate plans in case there was a structural failure to the pipe the valves were installed in. Two of the valves were on the critical line from Cheney Reservoir and required a 24-hour a day commitment by Wildcat. The project required multiple planning and coordination meetings with the owner and an engineering firm contracted by Wildcat. The lines had to be drained, the valves removed and replaced, and then the line had to be refilled in limited times requiring coordination with all parties. An existing drain line that did not function as needed was reconstructed as well as miscellaneous site work during the project. The replacements were completed between Thanksgiving 2015 and early February 2016.
